Ask for a compatible, documented coating system—not an isolated product promise.
Describe the substrate and the exposure
Identify the material, existing coating, location, and condition. Explain whether the surface encounters standing water, salt exposure, cleaning chemicals, abrasion, or heat. Unknown materials and severe exposure need a closer assessment before a coating is selected.
Understand the two product directions
Pro Industrial DTM Acrylic is intended for light to moderate industrial applications on suitable prepared substrates. Pro Industrial Industrial Enamel Alkyd is an interior/exterior high-gloss enamel for specified applications. Neither description replaces the product data sheet for your particular job.
Include the primer in the discussion
A rust-inhibitive primer such as Pro-Cryl may be part of a compatible system. Ask how the selected primer and topcoat work together and which preparation standard applies. A “direct-to-metal” label does not excuse cleaning or removal of unsuitable material.
Clarify the operating constraints
Share occupancy, ventilation, access, and the date the surface must return to use. Review drying and curing requirements for the actual system. An option that looks suitable on paper may not fit the site’s operating conditions.
Recognize the limits of a basic coating job
